A new conference on the leather value chain for brands, retailers and manufacturers is making its debut in New York, with a featured event on deforestation. The Leather, Compliance & Sustainability Conference will take place on Nov. 13 and focus on the latest developments in chemistry, compliance and sustainability. One of the presentations, entitled “Amazon Deforestation: What It Means for Your Business,” will offer an overview of deforestation in Brazil while exploring potential supply-chain solutions. The speech on Amazonian deforestation will be given by Mauricio Bauer, senior corporate engagement specialist at the U.S.-based National Wildlife Federation (NWF). Bauer will also provide information on the livestock farming structure in the region and existing traceability systems.
