A private equity firm, Searchlight Capital Partners, has become the majority shareholder of Hunter Boot through a capital increase designed to increase the brand's presence in existing markets and to expand in new regions around the world. The former shareholders including Pentland Group, which bought a 49 percent stake in the Scottish firm in 2006, will retain a significant investment in the company, which has become famous for its extravagant wellington boots. Hunter reported a net profit of £16 million (€19.1m-$25.0m) on sales of £56 million (€67.0m-$87.5m) for 2010.
