Americans bought on average 7.5 pairs of shoes per year. The figure, which refers to 2013, has been unveiled by the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) while announcing its reports ApparelStats 2014 and ShoeStats 2014. According to the same source, the rebound in Made in USA clothes and shoes, first seen in 2011, continued in 2013, with U.S. manufacturing of clothes and shoes up 6.2 percent and 8.5 percent, respectively. However, the AAFA also notes that 98 percent of all shoes, and 97 percent of all clothes, sold in the U.S. are imported items.
