Anton Magnani has been appointed as general merchandise manager of Hugo Boss for shoes, leathergoods and other accessories under its various labels. The Italian executive will be stationed in Milan. The Italian executive has been working since March 2004 at Umbro International in the UK to help in the development of its lifestyle collections, in cooperation with Dirk Bikkembergs, Philip Treacy and Kim Jones. Magnani has worked in design and product development for Dry Shod, Manas, Bally and Clarks, where he ran the Clarks Originals business unit until the beginning of 2004. Hugo Boss, which recently took its footwear license back in-house from MSC, has reported a 12 percent increase in consolidated sales of all products to €297 million for the 1st quarter of 2005, with strong progress in France, Germany and the USA, particularly in the women’s sector.
