APPICCAPS, the Portuguese shoe industry federation, points out that 167 companies will participate in the three major international shoe shows in Düsseldorf, Milan and Madrid this month, or 47 percent more than one year ago. The number of Portuguese firms showing at the GDS will remain constant at 60. Instead, participation will grow by 181 percent at MICAM, with a total of 45 companies, and by 65 percent at Modacalzado, with 61 firms. The association is involving the Portuguese shoe industry in 30 initiatives in 15 countries next year under a new program called Dinamo. Portuguese shoe producers are targeting especially new markets such as China, the United Arab Emirates and Russia.
