At least a couple of footwear brands are exploring the use of wool in footwear, and they are doing this in collaboration with specialists. BasicNet, which bought Sebago from Wolverine Worldwide last year, is using Solaro, a bio-based fabric made of wool and nylon, in a new line of Docksider boat shoes co-branded with Sease, a lifestyle brand founded by the brothers Franco and Giacomo Loro Piana. The line is being offered on Sease's web store and its four physical stores in Italy. Meanwhile, Fabi, an Italian footwear company that has a strong business in Russia, has partnered with Reda, an Italian supplier of merino wool fabrics, to put out a sneaker under its own Barracuda brand for the next autumn/winter season that uses this material in both the upper and the inner lining.
