Attendance at Modacalzado and Iberpiel, which ran in tandem on Apr. 1-3 under the code name SIPIEL, went up by 7 percent as compared to last year’s Spring edition, reaching 21.498 buyers. Foreign attendance grew by 12 percent to 3.304 persons. The biggest increases in the buying contingents came from Russia, the UK, Italy, France, Greece and Portugal, according to IFEMA, the fair’s organizer. The inflow from distant countries such as Japan, the USA, Mexico or the United Arab Emirates decreased, mainly because the show was separated from the GDS in Düsseldorf by a longer interval, due to the Easter holidays. The number of Spanish buyers grew by 7 percent to 18,194 people. Thirty of the 824 exhibiting companies participated in the Modacalzado Trends Showcase.
