Bally has reportedly signed up Domenico De Sole and Tom Ford, the former winning duo of Gucci Group, as consultants to help Mario Franchini, Bally’s CEO, to turn the company around. Meanwhile, De Sole and Ford have teamed up to build up a new luxury goods brand around Tom Ford, Gucci’s former creative director. Ford has signed the first licenses with Estée Lauder for cosmetics and with Marcolin for eyewear. Diego Della Valle and his brother Andrea, who control Tod’s, have been instrumental in getting Marcolin’s contract with Ford and another one with Ferrari. They now own 40 percent of Marcolin (more in EyeWear Intelligence).
