Birkenstock aims to enter new product segments. Birkenstock will present a line of high-quality sleeping systems, including mattresses and slatted frames at the International Furniture Fair in Cologne on Jan. 6-21, developed in partnership with a specialist in this sector, ADA, and manufactured in Austria. They will be delivered to clients in Europe, the U.S. and Asia from the second half of 2017.

The company plans to launch more products in the ergonomics and health segment in the future as well as a series of office furniture. In February, Birkenstock will also launch its first line of natural cosmetics. At the start, the products will be sold only in the U.S. and Asia.

According to Wirtschaftwoche, Birkenstock recorded total revenues in a range between €600 million and €700 million in 2015, or double the company's sales in 2013. The number of shoes produced increased from 12 million to 20.5 million over the same period, and Birkenstock plans to reach an annual volume about 50 million pairs a few years from now.
