Birkenstock is expanding its beauty business. This month, the German company will launch its first comprehensive facial care collection. It will be part of the Birkenstock Natural Skin Care category, a line of natural cosmetics that, according to Birkenstock's chief executive, Oliver Reichert, may represent half of the company's total turnover in ten years' time. The collection will be offered at Birkenstock's mono-brand stores, at select stores in the German-speaking markets and on the company's international online store. 16 Marionnaud stores in Austria will start selling the Birkenstock Natural Skin Care line this month, along with ten Nordstrom stores in the U.S. as of this autumn. In Germany, the line will be sold at all Alnatura stores. The cosmetics line is made in Germany and comes in recyclable packaging. Birkenstock offers a refill system for its Natural Skin Care products.
