Bread & Butter is going to become more selective following criticism from some of its exhibitors, retailers and journalists that the event has become too large with the participation of some brands that were not in line with the overall concept. With this in mind, the next Bread & Butter will be called “Selected” in a move to reflect the organizers’ ambition to present the brands, labels and designers that capture the essence of today’s Zeitgeist. The trade show intends to become more focused, concentrating on assessing the independence, innovation, desirability and credibility of its exhibitors. As a result, some companies that participated in the last edition of the trade show will be struck off the list and unable to participate again. The trade show will also be screening visitors to ensure that staff of vertical operators and imitators do not enter. While Bread & Butter is being increasingly talked about in the fashion industry, the organizers said that they were not interested in “breaking records”. The online sales system for the next Bread & Butter, to be held on Jan. 21-23, will be activated from Oct. 1 and can be used two weeks prior to the event.
