Brown Shoe Company has announced that it will closing down its distribution center in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, phasing it out starting in January with full closure by April. The activities that take place there will be moved to other locations as Brown Shoe makes an effort to cut down on excess capacity in its retail distribution network. The company will hold information sessions to help employees whose jobs are being eliminated, including an outplacement agency on-site and encouraging workers to relocate to take other jobs within the company. All employees will also receive severance packages.
