Calando, a German e-commerce retailer of discounted fashion and lifestyle products, is reportedly asking Zarlando, the leading German online shoe retailer, for payment of more than €250,000 and for annual fees of more than €50,000 to avoid a lawsuit for trademark infringement. It is also asking Zarlando to stop its special promotions. Calando, which registered its trade name eight years ago, claims that it sounds very similar to that of Zarlando, which started up in 2008.
