Camelot, an Italian equity fund specializing in the luxury goods sector, is acquiring full control of Sutor Mantellassi, the Italian manufacturer of high-end men’s shoes, just as it is getting ready to launch a women’s footwear line. Camelot is financing the acquisition through an investment firm, HII, in which Carmelo Pistone, the new chief executive of Sutor Mantellassi, holds a 30 percent stake. Italian news reports indicate that the new management plans to keep both of the company’s Italian factories in operation, specializing them in different processes. The company’s stores in Bologna and Florence are going to get a facelift after the planned opening of a store in Milan next September.
