Candie’s had net income of $787,000 for the 1st quarter ended on March 31, as compared to $33,000 for the same period in 2004, while gross profit, including licensing and commission revenue, increased by 78 percent to $4.3 million. The results show how the company has transformed itself from a footwear and jeanswear company into a multi-brand licensing and management business. It licensed its Candie’s and Bongo footwear operations in May 2003, followed by its Bongo jeans wear in August 2004. Two months later, in October 2004, it acquired Badgely Mischka, the luxury designer brand.
