Ceddec, the European federation of national shoe retailers' associations, has voted to join Eurocommerce as its lobbying organization with the European institutions. The decision follows the recent death of Roeland Smets, who acted as the chief lobbyist in Brussels for both Ceddec and CEC, the European shoe industry federation. In contrast with CEC, Ceddec is in favor of the repayment of anti-dumping duties unjustly levied from importers of leather shoes from China and Vietnam, and it feels that labels of origin should remain optional.
