Citing a shortage of skilled workers and a high turnover of the labor force as the reasons for the move, Gabor is planning to shut down its Slovakian factory at Liptovsky Mikulas by next March 31. The facility employs between 400 and 450 people in the production of uppers. The German company will keep its other Slovakian plant at Banovce nad Bebravou, where it makes 10,000 pairs of shoes daily. Gabor has other factories in Austria and Portugal.
