Clarks is joining forces with a fashion designer for the first time. It began marketing in selected locations in the UK last month a line of men’s footwear designed by Oliver Sweeney, priced somewhere between Clarks’ and Sweeney’s current lines. Called Design Oliver Sweeney it comprises twelve styles, ranging from casual leather lace-ups to square-toed dress shoes. In the Spring/Summer period, the line will be introduced to other markets in Europe and Asia. This is the first time Clarks has teamed up with a designer, and the company would like to continue working with Sweeney for future lines. Oliver Sweeney had also designed footwear for Marks and Spencer’s Autograph line. M&S will phase out this collection for next Spring and replace it with a line from Jeffrey West.
