Cofra, a leading Italian manufacturer of safety footwear based in the Barletta district of Italy, will cease production in 12 months’ time, resulting in 241 job losses out of a total workforce of 347. The firm’s administrative and sales offices will continue to operate, but the production of its own brand will continue in China, for distribution in Italy and other European markets. Cofra generates annual sales of about €65 million on production of 3 million pairs, of which 75 percent go to export markets.
