Due to the coronavirus crisis, the German company Ara Shoes wants to accelerate the restructuring process it started in early 2020. This will include a workforce reduction at the Langenfeld site in order to compensate for the loss of sales this year and the negative forecast for the next two years.
Ara did not say how many employees will be affected by the layoffs. However, the job cuts should be made as socially acceptable as possible.
The goal is to convert the Langenfeld location into a creative, service and innovation center. The focus will be on new logistics processes, the establishment of 3-D development in design and product development, the strengthening of wholesale distribution, a clear focus on the end consumer and the expansion of digital distribution. By standardizing processes and reducing complexity, the production facilities are to be given significantly more responsibility in the future. The production site in Portugal is to become the center of model development.
