Deckers Outdoor has won a judicial dispute with Intermedium Shoes in the district court of The Hague with regard to the design of Ugg Australia's Bailey Button boot. The Dutch trading company had initiated the legal action after the American company attacked a German retailer for selling allegedly fake boots. The court ordered the Dutch company to stop selling the infringing products, warning that it would otherwise have to pay fines of up to €250,000. It also asked Intermedium to send a letter to all its customers saying that the rights for their design belong to Deckers. They are protected by a community design registered in the European Union, says Deckers.
