Deichmann increased total sales by 5 percent in 2011 to €4.13 billion. The German retail group is now represented in 21 European markets and in the U.S. Foreign sales accounted for 56 percent of the company's total sales. At the end of last year, the group had 3,175 stores worldwide, up from 2,939 in 2010. Germany is home to 1,282 stores, 92 of them under the retail concepts Roland and MyShoes with 73.4 million pairs of shoes sold. The number of pairs sold in these stores decreased by 3 percent compared with 2010, but the actual turnover in Germany rose by 3.2 percent to €1.82 billion in 2011. Deichmann plans to invest €202 million in new stores and to strengthen of its logistics. In Germany, the company plans to open 60 new stores, close 30 existing doors and renovate 73 others.
