Describing it as a sign of a possible recovery, Assocalzaturifici reports an encouraging 1.8 percent increase in the number of visitors at its recent edition of theMicam as compared to a year ago. With a total of 32,703 registered visitors, attendance at the fair was also 6 percent higher than in September. Significantly, the number of visitors from outside Italy grew by 12.5 percent to 16,343, with Spain, Germany and France leading the ranking, in spite of the overlap of dates with the Pure fair in London and FN Platform in Las Vegas. Surprisingly, the number of buyers from Russia jumped by 13 percent, representing 5.17 percent of the international visitors. The next edition of theMicam will start on a Saturday rather than a Sunday, running on Sept. 3-6, but it will return to a Sunday-Wednesday schedule next year, taking place on Feb. 12-15 and on Sept. 8-11.
