Desigual, a very eccentric Spanish fashion brand that has developed an equally eccentric shoe collection, has announced the departure of Manel Adell, its chief executive and shareholder, as of Jan. 1, 2013. He said that he was to start new professional and personal projects. Adell has been with the fast-growing Catalan group, founded in 1984, since 2002. With €500 million sales in 2011 and an expected €700 million for 2012, Desigual is sold in 275 mono-brand stores, 7,000 multi-brand stores and 1,800 shop-in-shops in over 70 countries. The name of Adell's replacement was not released. At the end of 2011, Christian Meyer, brother of Desigual's founder, Thomas, left the company.
