Desma is showing some very sophisticated new polyurethane injection molding machinery at its House Fair in Germany. The company says that its new Amir version, which has been developed with the collaboration of Bayer, can dramatically reduce the need of manpower to only three minutes per pair, a drop of up to 90 percent from traditional methods. Only two operatives are needed to operate the new system instead of 200 to produce 1,200 pairs of shoes during an eight-hour shift.
