Dominik Benner, the owner of Schuhe24, the German-based online marketplace for independent shoe retailers, has acquired 40 percent of We Want Shoes, the German online brand marketing and networking platform. The price paid for the acquisition was not reported. Saydou Bangoura, founder of We Want Shoes, remains chief executive of the B2B platform for shoes and accessories. The Berlin-based start-up offers an interactive platform for orders, communications and networking. It serves as a virtual showroom. More than 200 brands and companies, like Josef Seibel, Camel Active, Ricosta and Unisa, are presenting models from their current collections, as well as catalogs, trade fair dates and special promotions, in new brand showrooms on the platform's marketplace. Benner aims to transfer the technology of We Want Shoes to other industries, like sporting goods and fashion. Manufacturers can use We Want Shoes for their product presentation and as a B2B shop. For 2019, We Want Shoes plans to launch a pilot project to allow manufacturers to present their shoes in videos. At present, more than 900 stores are connected with Schuhe24, selling their product range online via the German-based online marketplace. In February, Benner launched the Sportmarken24 online marketplace for sporting goods retailers.
