Dr. Martens has decided to close all its directly controlled sales operations in Europe, except in the UK, and to work instead through distributors. Its continental distribution center in Antwerp, which is being run by Walter McKinney, will be closed. The brand, which is adding new technical features to its footwear line for Fall/Winter 2004/05, is still looking for a distributor in Germany. In France, where Jean-Marc Jackson was running its sales office, the distribution will be taken up by the growing GPG Company, which is about to sign another important distribution deal with a big American brand. Fros International will take care of Dr. Martens in the Benelux countries. Its successful distributor in Italy, ASAP, will also cover Spain.
