Less than three months after its debut on Dutch platform Amazon.nl, ANWR lands on Amazon.fr, the French website of the American online retail giant, in a move to further expand its affiliated retailers’ Europe-wide online reach.
As there are still no uniform regulations across Europe regarding easing restrictions or post-Covid re-opening strategies, with its debut on Amazon.fr, the German footwear buying group opens another important foreign market for its retailers. The new opportunity will help support and possibly increase online sales as the coronavirus crisis drags on.
Retailers will operate through the e-commerce control tool Qualibet, which is run by ANWR Group’s unit ANWR Media and allows companies to manage their product selection as well as all orders, returns and invoicing.
All resellers operating on the German and Dutch Amazon marketplace through Qualibet will automatically be able to do the same on the French platform Amazon.fr.
Over 330,000 products from more than 750 ANWR-affiliated retailers will be offered on Amazon’s French website.
France is seen as a promising market for German shoe retailers, especially in today’s difficult situation, as shoppers in the neighboring country are passionate about fashion and the latest trends, which particularly reflects on their footwear preferences. In fact, average per capita shoe consumption in France is much higher than in the Netherlands and especially Germany. In addition, average shoe prices are 8 percent higher than in Germany.
With the recent expansions, ANWR’s affiliated retailers now have access to over 15 online marketplaces through the network’s digital platform.
Established in Hamburg in 1919, ANWR celebrated its centenary last year. It employs 1,300 people and has a trade volume of €14.5 billion thanks to its 5,000 affiliated retailers.
