The German footwear buying group ANWR is making it easier for its partners to sell on Amazon in the Netherlands.
Since the beginning of December, all resellers operating on the German Amazon marketplace through the e-commerce control tool Qualibet, which is run by ANWR Group’s unit ANWR Media, can automatically do the same on the Dutch platform Amazon.nl, which expanded on March 10, 2020 by opening its doors to external online retailers.
In one fell swoop, in early December over 330,000 products from more than 750 ANWR-affiliated retailers were offered on Amazon’s Dutch website. With the additional sales channel, ANWR aims to further expand its international business and provide all partners with new opportunities in a lucrative European market.
The Netherlands is seen as a promising market for German shoe retailers. With an internet savvy population, a relatively young marketplace and the fashion segment accounting for the largest share of total Dutch online sales, ANWR expects sustained growth.
After the Netherlands, ANWR Media also plans to expand to other European countries in 2021 with its sales tool Qualibet, which allows retailers to manage their product selection as well as all orders, returns and invoicing. In addition to Amazon, the software supports other marketplaces such as eBay, Spartoo, Zalando, Mirapodo and Allyouneed.
Established in Hamburg in 1919, ANWR celebrated its centenary last year. It employs 1,300 people and has a trade volume of €14.5 billion at its 5,000 affiliated retailers.
Amazon.nl started in 2014, but for years it only offered e-books and Amazon’s Kindle e-reader, whereas for all other products customers were redirected to Amazon.de. Starting from this year, both Dutch and foreign third-party sellers can register to sell their products on Amazon.nl.
