Zalando has opened a 1,400-square-meter outlet store in Mannheim, bringing the total to nine in Germany. The opening was planned for April but was postponed after the recent lockdown in the country and the subsequent gradual reopening that was initially limited to stores of up to 800 square meters. The e-commerce group plans to open another five outlet stores by 2022. The off-price segment, including its online shopping club “Zalando Lounge,” the outlet stores and overstock offers, accounts for 10 percent of Zalando’s total sales. Sales of the off-price segment increased by 32.6 percent to €659.3 million in 2019. In the first quarter of 2020, they rose by 35 percent year-on-year.
