Emu has created the new position of European marketing manager, based in the U.K., and assigned it to Oiwah Chong, a 29-year-old official who previously worked in the marketing department of Timberland Europe. She reports directly to Andy Knowles, chief executive of Emu Europe. The Australian company has also appointed three regional sales managers; Karl Vanderhuizen, 36, who was previously in charge of European key accounts, is now handling Northern Europe. Jefferey Platteel, the 27-year-old Dutch sales manager, will be in charge of Southern Europe, replacing Gene Maurice, who has gone to work for Emu in the U.S., but he will still be based in Amsterdam. Emma Thaxter, 41, who previously handled Northern Europe, will take care of sales of Emu's new apparel collection all over the continent.
