Esprit is planning to open a 900-square-meter flagship store on Paris’ rue de Rivoli in the near future, occupying the same building that currently houses a large Adidas store. The company’s worldwide revenues rose by 23.4 percent to 14.6 billion Hong Kong dollars (€1.38b-$1.87b) during the 1st half of its fiscal year ended last Dec. 31. They were driven by a 32.8 percent increase in retail sales through its own stores, which came to represent 44 percent of the total. Net profit went up by 28.1 percent to HK$2.4 billion (€0.23b-$0.31b), indicating continuously strong profitability. Europe generated 85.8 percent Esprit’s sales, which grew by 23.5 percent in Germany, by 37.1 percent in France, by 66.7 percent in Spain, by 56.4 percent in Italy, by 28.5 percent in the UK and by 22.6 percent in the Benelux countries.
