The German footwear buying group ANWR Schuh, ANWR Group’s footwear division, kicked off 2021 with a management shake-up.

Starting from Jan. 15, Helmut Wies, who served as head of retail consulting at ANWR Schuh for many years, will take up the post of managing director in charge of consulting, marketing and personnel.

“Helmut Wies has full knowledge of the membership structure and the current challenges shoe trade faces”, said Fritz Terbuyken, CEO of ANWR Group. “We are pleased to be able to guarantee a smooth transition with him as an experienced retailer,“ he added.

Wies succeeds Heike Discher, who after many years of activity has decided to leave ANWR Group in order to embark on a new professional journey, according to ANWR Group. “After 25 interesting and successful years at ANWR Group, it is time for me to take a new professional path”, Discher said.

Consulting is set to be one of the group’s key services after the coronavirus crisis. In addition to profiling and positioning retailers in a rapidly changing market, the aim is to expand and further develop the appropriate services for affiliated retailers.

At Wies’s side, Tobias Eichmeier will continue to serve as ANWR Schuh’s managing director, a position he has held since April 2020.

Wies and his team have been providing specialist advice to ANWR retailers for ten years. Before that, he held managerial positions at various retail companies.
