The Italian association of tanning and footwear machinery manufacturers, Assomac, has elected Maria Vittoria Brustia as its new president until 2024, replacing Gabriella Marchioni Bocca. Brustia is president of Brustia-Alfameccanica. The company was founded in 1958 in Vigevano and specializes in the production of heel nailing and fixing machines, and backpart and toe moulding machines for the footwear industry.

Assomac also elected as vice presidents Mauro Bergozza, head of the tanning machinery manufacturer, Bergi, and Cristiano Paccagnella, chief executive of leather finishing and stitching machine provider, Omac.

The association also announced that the next edition of the trade show Simac Tanning Tech has been postponed to the second half of 2021 to enable the attendance of non-European visitors, who may not be able to come sooner due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Over the past five years, Simac has been held in February in Milan.
