Deborah Taylor has started in a new position as consultant for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) project to advance transparency and traceability for sustainable value chains for footwear and garments. Taylor comes to UNECE after serving five years as manager of the Leather Working Group, which includes brands, retailers and leather manufacturers intent on improving environmental standards in tannery operations. The UNECE project aims to establish a multi-stakeholder policy platform to set traceability standards by 2022 to help garment and footwear industries identify and address labor and human rights violations and environmental impacts of their businesses, combat counterfeits and make production more sustainable.
