German shoemaker Rohde has expanded its sales team by appointing Timo Schmermund as key account manager, a position that had long been vacant. He will take up his new post on July 1.

Boasting nearly 25 years of experience in the footwear industry, the 46-year-old previously worked for the Wortmann Group in Detmold, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, where he was in charge of the German and northwestern European markets for the Jana Shoes brand.

Based in Schwalmstadt, in the Hesse region, Rohde mainly operates in the German market, which accounts for half of its sales. The other leading markets are the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denmark and Austria.

Separately, Jana Shoes said that Nicolai Wyinck has succeeded Schmermund as head of wholesale sales in northwestern Europe.

Wyinck has more than 13 years of experience in sales, including more than eight years in the footwear industry. Most recently, the 36-year-old was senior sales manager at Unlimited Footwear Group and responsible for sales of the Bullboxer brand in the DACH region.
