Sperry, a division of Wolverine Worldwide, has appointed Sean McDowell as vice president of design and product development. He will report to Joelle Grunberg, global brand president of Sperry and a member of Wolverine Worldwide’s executive leadership team .

McDowell has worked for three decades in the footwear industry, of which 22 years were with the Nike group, where his last position was vice president in charge of design, innovation and sustainability for the Converse brand. He was also vice president and creative director of Nike Running.

He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in industrial design and psychology from Carnegie Mellon University. He has been awarded more than 50 U.S. patents, won dozens of international design awards, and his work has been displayed in the Smithsonian and Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
