Filuxat, a French company that owns the Luxat brand of comfort shoes, has bought Pare Gabia, a French specialist in espadrilles whose previous owner is going into retirement. The group coming out of this merger had pro forma sales of €17 million and employed 320 people at four factories. The management is led by Luc Ferlicchi. He and three other managers own one-third of the shares, and the balance is in the hands of institutional investors. Claudia Meyzene has been appointed a export manager to develop further the company's sales abroad, which already represent about 40 percent of Pare Gabia's turnover of €4.5 million.
