Fired from Lanvin four years ago and absent from the fashion world ever since, Alber Elbaz is making his return with a capsule collection for Tod's. Called “Happy Moments,” the collection was inspired by Elbaz' recent exile. Among the items are black and white moccasins conceived for wedding couples and a basketball shoe with an ergonomic sole. The designer worked directly with the Italian factories of Tod's to develop the collection, and his face appears in the logo's O. Elbaz was welcomed back by the brand's chairman, Diego della Valle, at a luncheon thrown for the launch earlier this month in Paris. Della Valle initiated his firm's recent practice of designer collaborations with Alessandro Dell'Acqua for last season.
