Flojos has been acquired by The Courtney Group, a private equity firm based in Newport Beach, California, for an undisclosed amount. The Courtney Group has purchased the family-owned brand of rubber sandals from Nellie and Sheng Yen Lin, a married couple. John Dickinson, who is also a stakeholder in the label, will take over as the new chief executive. Flojos was founded in Guadalajara, Mexico in the early 1970s by the Santana family. Nellie and Sheng Yen Lin bought the brand in 1996 and developed what was, until then, mostly a men's business for the women's market. The brand is best known for its iconic 101 Flojos sandal, an all-rubber style with cross straps. The strategy of The Courtney Group for Flojos reportedly includes the expansion of its men's division, bringing back limited-edition styles such as the original sandals from Mexico, as well as international expansion.
