Footwear Plus, the American challenger of Footwear News, was picked up by Symphony Publishing, primarily a publisher of music magazines and a division of Zapis Capital Group, in a relatively quick acquisition deal that started at the beginning of August and ended at the beginning of September. Greg Dutter remains as «editor in chief.» The entire Footwear Plus staff is back to work with new equipment, a new circulation department and new management. Contentions within the previous third-generation management at the family-owned publishing company prompted a Chapter 11 bankruptcy and the sale of the 15-year-old footwear trade magazine and an 88-year-old children’s fashion magazine. Footwear Plus has a circulation of 18,000, mostly in the USA. Symphony has bought the trade names, the circulation list and other assets, not the debt.
