France’s National Leather Council (CNC), a rather wealthy organization subsidized by the French government that groups about 20 different leather-related associations, has launched an expensive TV campaign on television, featuring two spots around the tagline, “Live out Leather!” The campaign reached a climax on Oct. 25, in connection with St. Crispin’s Day, where retailers were invited to show posters inspired by the same motif. It will continue for two more years. CNC had not made such an investment since 1987, when it sponsored a similar campaign in the movie theaters.
