Franco Leone and Huntsman Polyurethanes have announced an innovation project around the development of a special soling solution. Using polyether-based polyurethane from Huntsman's Daltoped range, the two companies have developed a system that delivers a hardwearing outsole with a low-density cushioning mid-sole. Franco Leone, an Indian shoe manufacturer based in New Delhi, started collaborating with Huntsman in 2012. After several meetings, the two companies embarked on the creation of the innovative soling solution, which is meant to be particularly suitable for India's humid, tropical climate. The material can be engineered to obtain different colors and finishes. After successful trials at Huntsman's footwear technology centers in India and Belgium, Franco Leone has put the new material into production and has made more than 100,000 of its shoes so far using Daltoped technology.
