Görtz is launching a new store format for medium-priced shoes and accessories, simply called Görtz Shoes, that addresses men and women of between 30 and 50 years of age. Like its Görtz 17 chain, which targets a younger consumer, it will only sell private label footwear, offering three collections per season The cartons will be piled up on each other to save time and space. A pilot shop is opening in Krefeld in December on 220 square meters. A total of 100 units are in the cards if the experiment works out well, starting with about six shops on prime locations in 2005. With a total of 11 new openings this year, the number of Görtz’ store will reach 233 at the end of 2004, including 104 Görtz 17 units, 46 Hess shops and 13 Görtz shop-in-shops. Three Görtz stores operate in Austria.
