Genesco has hired Scott E. Becker as senior vice-president, general counsel and corporate secretary of the company, effective Oct. 23. He takes over the role from Roger Sisson, who retired earlier this year. Genesco's retail banners include Journeys, Journeys Kidz, Schuh, Schuh Kids, Little Burgundy and Johnston & Murphy. Becker has more than 30 years of legal, financial and administrative leadership experience. Prior to joining Genesco, he had worked at Nissan since 2006, serving in several roles of increasing responsibility, with eventual oversight for all legal affairs and government relations for Nissan in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Latin America. From 2006 to 2009, he served as general counsel, corporate secretary and vice-president of legal and government affairs. After 2009, he was a senior vice-president with responsibilities for Nissan's legal, government affairs, finance, strategy and administration in North and Latin America. During this time, he served on the executive management committee and as member of the boards of directors of Nissan North America, Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp., Nissan Canada, and Nissan no Brasil. Prior to Nissan, he worked at Sears Holdings Corp., where he served in various legal roles from 2000 to 2006. Earlier in his career, he worked with several law firms in the Chicago area.
