In about a year, Genesco will be moving its headquarters within the city of Nashville from Murfreesboro Road, where they have been since 1965, to Marriott Drive. There the footwear retailer and wholesaler will occupy about two-thirds of a 310,000-square-foot building. The company estimates that the move will create jobs and generate about $30 million in new investments over the next five years for Davidson County, of which Nashville is the administrative capital. In other news, Genesco got a new chief executive this month, when Mimi Vaughn was promoted from senior vice president and chief operating officer and became the first woman to hold the post. In December, the company announced the acquisition for $33.7 million of Togast, a designer, producer and vendor of licensed footwear operating out of New York.
