Gérald Mazzalovo, former head of Bally, Loewe and Ferragamo USA, has taken over as chief executive officer of Robert Clergerie, the French upmarket shoe company, from the beginning of this year. He replaces Bernard Divisia, an interim CEO who has left the company to acquire La Forge de Laguiole, a French manufacturer of luxury knifes. The takeover of Laguiole, which has an annual turnover of about €6 million, was supported by several French investment companies that are completely unrelated to Robert Clergerie, in contrast with certain French press reports.Divisia, a former executive of Bally, stepped in at Clergerie last May after the dismissal of Philippe Clin, another high-profile executive from the luxury sector. Mazzalovo is a former consultant at Arthur Andersen with a long track record in the luxury goods industry. His side activities include teaching at Essec, a French business school that delivers a special MBA Luxe. He was the co-author of a book cheekily titled as “Pro Logo.”
