Giesswein, known for its colorful slippers and rubber boots, plans to put out its first line of street footwear in leather for the Fall/Winter 2008/09 season, while a new generation takes over the management of this Austrian family-owned company, which produces fabrics and knitwear as well. Michael Giesswein, 28, and his 25-year-old brother Markus will replace their father Hannes at the head of the company. Michael will be more specifically in charge of marketing, an area that has been handled recently by an executive, Egon Mina, who is leaving the company.
