Gimmi Baldinini, founder of the shoe company that bears his name, is said to be interested in acquiring a majority stake in the Rimini airport on the Adriatic coast because it has helped his company and others in the Marche region to build up a strong business in Russia. Baldinini's head office in San Mauro Pascoli lies about 30 kilometers away from the airport. There are many regular and charter flight connections between Rimini and Russian destinations. Aeradria, the company that runs the airport, is looking for new investors because of a drop in passenger traffic.
