Högl Shoe Fashion Group Lorenz will lay off 47 employees at its main Austrian site in Taufkirchen, leaving 83 employees who will concentrate on prototyping, small production runs, logistics, administration and sales. The related manufacturing activities will be transferred to Hungary, where the group bought Salamander’s former shoe factory in the country last October. Högl and its sister brands, Ganter and Hassia, now employ about 600 people in Hungary, 300 in Austria, 150 in Slovakia and 100 in Croatia. The group recently closed a factory in the Czech Republic.
